Laura Dekker's research-based practice explores relationships between humans, technology and nature, questioning whether these are useful categorisations to hold on to. She tackles this from many different directions: how humans interpret and impose meaning on the world, grasping to make sense of it; the role of nature and technologies in how we experience and construct ourselves and our world; tiny interactions between human effects and disrupted species in urban landscapes.

Laura investigates these ideas through interactive installations and walks, combining physical organic materials, real-time data scraping, computation and robotics, video, audio and performance, often working collaboratively. She aims to engage with a sensorially rich and provocative experience, transporting the viewer-participant into the artwork.
